“Kynnet/Nails” is a sculpture that plays with function. The base is made of casted clay and the top is hand built porcelain. The decorative elements are made by scratching with tools and nails, they are then highlighted with black glaze. In my work, I often manipulate surfaces and am keen on investigating different ways to manipulate clay.
“Kynnet/Nails” leads the viewer to the natural world and tells a sad story about the disappearance of our primeval forests. We, as humans, are losing our respectful touch with nature, which I believe is an essential part of being.
