The DIGITUS collection, created by Humberto da Mata Design Studio, features the use of hands as the main modeling tool. This results in pieces that physically acquire the scale of the maker’s hand.
The research involved both clay volumetric experimentation and the possibilities of covering and decorating the pieces with materials such as engobes and high-temperature glazes and glass pastes, all applied on white ceramic. During this process, the glaze proved to be a material endowed with three-dimensionality, composing with the ceramic the final volume of the piece.
The materials used for the ceramic covering added the pieces complex layers of colors, shades and textures.
