Description
‘Boardwalk Empire’ is made of white marble and smoked oak. Both are turned on the lathe and the sticks are fixed. They have two led lights at the back, a white colored one and a warmer, more yellow coloured one. The concept is derived from the wooden piles you can see at the sea shore. The water is symbolised by the movement in the marble.
MdSt-studio is very concerned about nature. Therefore they do not want to make a piece other than when they adjust content and form that reminds the buyer of the importance to keep our earth healthy and alive. MdSt works with local woods that are not accepted by the economic market, and works with a very low ecological footprint. The studio is able to make all the avant garde objects with only the help of hand tools or with electrical tools that are only used very shortly to arrive at the desired product. This enables the studio to show that it is possible to make sophisticated avant garde design with traditional hand tools and respect for the environment.
