Estudio Pomelo is a Mexican architecture and design firm that develops everyday objects in collaboration with artisans, employing traditional techniques in order to offer contemporary pieces and help ensure the continuity of artisanal practices.
By working with artisan families, we seek to make objects that are relevant to our time and functionally simple—without conceptual, formal or technological frills—so that these objects can be used naturally in urban environments—bringing a touch of warmth to these environments while standing the test of time.
We experiment with the possibilities of traditional techniques in order to bring ancestral language to the present. We seek originality in connecting origins to contemporary objects, and we hope that our collaboration will keep traditional techniques alive (and fresh). In all of this, we aim to preserve local identity.
