Inspired by Antonio Aricò’s research into the hidden personalities of functional objects, The “Swing Chair” brings the romantic notion of a gentle outdoor swing indoors. Within a domestic setting, the “Swing Chair” becomes like a “puppet’,” a living marionette with its own presence and character. More than a flying chair, it’s an invitation to dream and play, but also a sweet metaphor. Like Gepetto did for Pinocchio, Aricò gave life to his idea with the use of ropes: the arms of the graceful “Swing Chair” are strong, and literally adopt the position of a real human. copying your movements and taking either a sober or a playful posture. The “Swing Chair” comes in two different shapes, and was first presented on the 26th of October at the Wabi Sabi exhibition that took place in Turin; it will soon be presented in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Berlin and Paris.
