Description

Luiz Pedrazzi’s “Concretist” wall carpets are geometric tapestries made from small, scavenged oddments of Turkish Kilim carpets. In Pedrazzi’s hands, each swatch of this traditional object — entirely hand-made and stitched from wool — is integrated into a new composition and sewn into and on top of the others, placing the various patterns and shapes in compelling dialogue. Due to the unique identity of each constituent Kilim carpet that Pedrazzi sources, imperfections and unconventional details are embraced, becoming part of the life and the work of the material.
