Description

For Tim Vanlier’s “BLUE MOON” plate, he continued his investigation into new approaches to traditional Delftware. Using typically Dutch dinnerware patterns, he poured cobalt blue pigment into the bottom of a shallow dish and put it in the ceramic kiln. The result: “BLUE MOON,” whose surface is a landscape of subtleties to discover, just like the moon itself.

Profile Photo
Studio Tim Vanlier
Tim Vanlier founded his design studio in 2016, the same year he graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven. In 2015, he won the 3rd prize in the Cor Unum design competition, and was also declared a winner of the Matter or Stuff Designer Competition 2016 in Montalcino, Italy. From his atelier in Eindhoven, Vanlier develops and produces both self-initiated and commissioned projects. The foundation for all his works is an emphasis on raw materials and the use of pure production techniques. Inspired by different manufacturing possibilities, Vanlier learned to improve everyday objects with his designs, which are characterized by their clean, organic and graphic forms. Often,he employs stratification to bring depth and unexpected possibilities to his materials; working in an experimental way opens up numerous possibilities, so he can create products that reach beyond the limitations of his recycled materials.
