Description

The Balena carafe gets its name from the Italian word for whale. Suspended on a marble base, the large capacity, mouth-blown vessel can tilt independently to pour beverages weightlessly, with very little effort on the part of the user.

Profile Photo
Dossofiorito
Founded in Verona, Italy, in 2012, Dossofiorito is the brainchild of designers Livia Rossi (1980) and Gianluca Giabardo (1982).The studio gets its name from a salvaged neon sign, and it exists in a former car workshop in the suburbs of town. Through all of its projects, Dossofiorito's design duo pursues its research into form and materials, aiming to combine broad contextual research that encompasses different fields and disciplines, and always employs an innovative use of craft. The studio's work spans from self-initiated object collections to commissions from institutions, companies and private customers; from site specific installations to the ideation and production of children workshops. Although varied, many of Dossofiorito’s projects share a performative and relational attitude and often act as a vehicle for considerations that go beyond the physicality of the object itself.
